The first event of 2010.

January 25, 2010 on 9:28 am | In Information, Schedule of Events | No Comments

We have gotten a slow start to 2010, recovering from the busy studio work at the end of 2009! But we are set up with our first event for February 2 at The Drive In here in Florence. We will be scheduling appointments from 6-8, so come out, get a portrait created and enjoy some great food! They are also extending this offer when you have a session done at this event: “Children will receive a Free commemorative T- shirt with a purchase of a meal and proof of portrait session. ( while supplies last).” These shirts are really cool!
We are also going 1 step farther than we have with past events. The first 50% will be donated to the Children’s Miracle Network as usual, but we are also donating the 2nd 50% to Haiti relief efforts! We are really hoping that this will be an amazing event, so please help us get the word out! We are just one week away from this event! Call us at 665-4646 to schedule your session time.

What started this project in the first place..

July 31, 2009 on 5:09 pm | In Information | No Comments

Many of you know the story of Joseph Greenwood. We had never met him until recently at one of our events, but his story is where this project came from. He needed a new heart a few years ago, we heard about it and wanted to do something through the studio. We came up with Joseph’s Angels. They were angel portraits on what is now the $100 Portrait Project background. We donated the session fee for those sessions and a portion of the sales to the fund that had been set up for him. At that time we were able to raise $1000 in one event! We were thrilled and wanted to do more on a larger scale for even more people. It took us two years, but we finally came up with this project and it is doing everything that we had prayed it would do.
Here is Joseph at our last $100PP event.

You may be wondering why I am posting this. Unfortunately Joseph has run into some difficulties with his new heart. His body, after two years, has started to reject the new heart. So I am asking you to join us and so many in this community and beyond, to pray for him. Pray for the doctors that are treating him, and pray for strength for his family.

Please go to his blog and keep track of him. http://www.josephgreenwood.blogspot.com/

God bless you Joseph. You have an army of people praying for you!

The CMN telelthon is today!

May 30, 2009 on 8:08 am | In Information | No Comments

Today is the CMN telethon on WBTW from noon to 8.

From a McLeod Foundation email I received:

“This year marks the 26th year of the Children’s Miracle Network Celebration Broadcast at McLeod, which celebrates the successes achieved at McLeod Children’s Hospital. These victories are made possible by families who give love and hope, McLeod physicians, nurses and ancillary staff who provide excellent care and treatment, and donors at every level who make charity care and vital equipment purchases possible.
The broadcast also recognizes the support of local groups and organizations as well as national corporate sponsors who work year round for the children treated at McLeod Children’s Hospital.
On Saturday, May 30, join the celebration from 12:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and be a champion for children by watching WBTW News 13 and calling in your pledge to support the care of infants and children in the region at McLeod Children’s Hospital.”

I will making the first donation from the $100 Portrait Project events today. We have been able to raise $2000 in just three events! I am so excited to get on air and talk about our project and how it works to get the word out to so many new people. Be sure to watch, and continue to support the Childrens Miracle Network here in Florence.

Portraits created at the April 25th event

We are so thankful to our host businesses and we really enjoyed our time at Wink. Talitha was so generous with her offer of 50% off of one pottery piece, too. I wanted to share with you some of the favorite portrait images that we created in our 10 minute sessions.

We are so thankful to those that have participated in our different events. We would also love to know what you have had printed from you digital portraits. I know many of you are planning on starting wall collections for stairways, and others are planning on larger wall portraits. Let us know!

Angel Babies on May 12

April 29, 2009 on 8:06 pm | In Information, Schedule of Events | No Comments

This is where the studio’s charity work started several years ago…with Angel Babies. We did a special Limited Edition portrait series in which the proceeds went to help a very sick little boy. We LOVED doing these sessions, and that’s what got us thinking about what we could do to give back in a bigger way. After much thinking and praying, The $100 Portrait Project was born! We are two events into this project and are THRILLED with what has been accomplished so far. And for the next big event, we have decided to bring back the thing that started it all…Angel Babies! This event will be held in the studio on May 12. Angel Baby sessions will be geared to children age 5 and under. As with all other $100 Portrait Project sessions, you will purchase the session and one digital image for $100, with at least 50% of that going to The Children’s Miracle Network. I’m so excited about this event! Session times are very limited and have already begun to fill up, so if this is something that interests you, call to set yours up today! 665-4646

And here are a few examples of the type of portrait you will get from an Angel Babies session…enjoy these sweet little ones!

Event at Wink

Well, this past Saturday’s event was a HUGE success! We had some of the best sessions we have had for this project to date. The sessions went quickly, most very easily. I am absolutely thrilled with the portraits we created. The best part is that it is a struggle to select the best one from each session, there are so many great ones created in such a short amount of time. I will be updating the images page soon. Thank you everyone!

The return of Angel Babies!

March 21, 2009 on 8:08 pm | In Information, The Look | No Comments

A few years ago, we introduced our Angel Babies Limited Edition as a fund raiser for a little boy with major medical needs. We were able to raise a little over $1000 in a two day event, and were thrilled. This was the beginning of our future in raising money for charity. I always knew that there was something more that we would be able to do, but never knew how. Recently, we figured out what the next step would be, and this was the birth of the $100 Portrait Project. As we are getting closer to our next event, we wanted to “bring back” our original fund raiser as a part of the next event. So, we are re-introducing the Angel Babies for March 28th at Dancin’ on Main as an option for your $100 Portrait Project session. Just let us know when you set up your appointment if you are going to want the wings for your session.
Here are some samples.

There are still several openings available so call us to set up your time. 665-4646
And remember, at least 50% of all revenue will be going to the Children’s Miracle Network.

Florence Family fun has a little to say about our project…

March 19, 2009 on 8:07 am | In Information | No Comments

Florence Family fun has posted a great testimonial about what we are doing at $100 Portrait Project and what you can expect. I could go on, but it is stated SO WELL and so much better than I could ever say it. Read it here: http://florencefamilyfun.com

Thank you Flossip

As many of you know, The Flossip (http://theflossip.com) is where we announced our project. She has been very helpful in getting the word out for us for our early events, too. I went to the site this morning and was SO touched by her post! We created the $100 Portrait Project to make a difference, and are so excited to hear the stories of those that have been touched and helped by the Children’s Miracle Network. We are just happy to be able to help. Thank you, Flossip for drawing more attention to this cause that is so important to us.
